RSA Referral Vet Network

RSA pet insurance information for clients

What is the RSA Referral Vet Network?

RSA Insurance Group has a preferred network of referral practices that they have selected. RSA made changes to their terms relating to veterinary referrals for their policyholders, meaning that clients who are or wish to be referred to a hospital that is not part of the RSA Referral Vet Network scheme will be charged a £200 excess.

This is the only part of your insurance cover that will be different if you are referred and receive treatment from a practice that is not a member of the RSA Referral Vet Network scheme.

Which companies are underwritten by the RSA and may charge the excess?

  • More Than
  • Tesco Bank

Which companies are underwritten by the RSA and do not charge the excess?

  • M&S Bank
  • John Lewis Finance

What will Fitzpatrick Referrals do if I am insured with RSA?

We will establish whether you are insured with an RSA company when the reception team arrange your consultation and will inform you that your pet insurance company may charge you a £200 excess to be referred to us (because we are not a member of the RSA Referral Vet Network scheme).

If you are charged the excess and it is deducted from your insurance payment, we will help you to appeal the additional £200 excess or we will reimburse this excess to you on condition that the following protocol has been followed.

  • Direct claims: If Fitzpatrick Referrals receive payment from your insurance provider and the excess is deducted, in the first instance, we will contact you to appeal the charge. Download our email/letter template. If the appeal is unsuccessful, we will write off the charge on your account upon receipt of an email or letter confirming that the excess will not be paid.
  • Indirect claims: If you receive payment from your insurance provider and the excess is deducted, in the first instance, we will contact you to appeal the charge. Download our email/letter template. If the appeal is unsuccessful, we will refund you £200 upon receipt of an email or letter confirming that the excess will not be paid.

You may receive a phone call from your insurance provider requesting you to visit a preferred referral hospital in the RSA Referral Vet Network, and even try to advise you that the treatment we provide is not completely covered. The only part that may not be covered by your insurance provider is the £200 excess.

If you have any other questions or would like to discuss this further, please call us on (+44) 01483 423761 / (+44) 01483 668100 to speak to a member of the finance team.

This policy is applicable from 17th October 2017 onwards.

Please note: If you are not insured with an RSA underwritten company or the company does not charge this fee (M&S Bank, John Lewis Finance), then this does not apply to you.
