In recent media coverage following the CMA’s release of the Issues Statement regarding veterinary services, we have been labelled as driving up the cost of veterinary services and encouraging families to spend more money, owing to the services we portray through The Supervet TV Show. We would like to clarify our position.
Fitzpatrick Referrals has always stood for and advocated that animals and their families (owners) deserve all the options, all the time; they deserve choice and hope as much as veterinary expertise. We never undergo treatment just because it is possible – only if it is in the interest of the patient. As a specialist centre, we often provide options that no one else can, which we believe our companion animals have a right to access, if ethically right to do so. The decision-making firmly remains with the family.
Fitzpatrick Referrals is committed to help families understand their role in choosing the right treatment for their animal companions. We believe that families have the right to choose what is right for them, financially as well as morally, with all the information to make an informed choice.
We strive to move the veterinary world forward through innovation and integrity. Our primary driver is, and always will be, the welfare of the animals we serve and the families who love them.
As an independent practice, Fitzpatrick Referrals welcomes the CMA’s report to ensure families receive a fair deal and are given transparency about the services offered to them in veterinary care.
