Pet Blood Bank at Fitzpatrick Referrals

Fitzpatrick Referrals Orthopaedics and Neurology is proud to support the national charity Pet Blood Bank UK by hosting blood donation sessions for dogs at our referral practice.

Pet Blood Bank is just like the human blood service, but for animals. They run donation sessions across the country where dogs come to give blood. This blood is then used by vets to help save the lives of other critically ill dogs.

Our donation sessions

We are hosting our first donation session for Pet Blood Bank on Saturday 12th November 2022 and plan to host more throughout the year to help them in their mission to ensure blood is always available for dogs who need it.

Appointments for donation sessions at Fitzpatrick Referrals must be booked in advance directly with Pet Blood Bank.

Keep reading to find out how your dog could become a lifesaving donor, or if your dog already donates, you can check our upcoming session dates and book your next appointment through the Pet Blood Bank app, or by calling them on 01509 232 222.

Could your dog be a lifesaving blood donor?

We need large, happy, and confident dogs to come along to our donation sessions and give blood. Your dog could be a lifesaving blood donor if they are:

  • Fit and healthy
  • Between one and eight years old
  • Weigh more than 25kg
  • Confident and enjoy meeting new people
  • Have a good temperament
  • Have never travelled outside of the UK and Ireland
  • Not on any medication
